A trial start date in the case against Marcus Green has been set for Aug.17.
Green, 53, of Thermal, was the driver of a car that went over the side of Highway 74 in May 2016 resulting in the death of a 5-month-old child. The Riverside County District Attorney’s office filed two felony charges — murder and willful child cruelty — as well as gross domestic violence.
In April, Green’s attorney, Michael Rowlands, deputy public defender, filed a motion to set aside the indictment because of irregularities when he was initially charged. However, on Monday, June 4, RC Superior Court Judge Dean Benjamini ruled against the defense motion and set the trial date.
