The Cranston Fire that began threatening Idyllwild a week ago today remains at 13, 139 acres and is now 89 percent contained.

889 personnel remain on scene.

The evacuation order is lifted for Idyllwild and Pine Cove north of Lower Saunders Meadow Road. Access can be made from Banning on Highway 243. Access to Garner Valley south of Lake Hemet is available from Highway 74 and Highway 371 to Lake View Drive (Lake Hemet Market). Evacuation orders remain in effect for Mountain Center, Bonita Vista, Apple Canyon, Hurkey Creek and the surrounding area. Use caution returning home.

The evacuation order also is lifted for Lake Hemet residents and employees.

San Bernardino National Forest and Mt. San Jacinto State Park areas closed.

These areas have been evacuated:

  • Apple Canyon area
  • Garner Valley (north of Lake View Drive/Lake Hemet Market)
  • Hurkey Creek area
  • Mountain Center Community
  • Bonita Vista
  • Mt San Jacinto State Park
