Editor:

We are incredibly grateful to the Town Crier for keeping the community informed about important events occurring on our mountain, and especially the coverage you’ve provided in the last several days about the Cranston Fire.

We want to provide you with an update about Idyllwild Arts, to share with our community. As you undoubtedly know, Southern California Edison has informed us that our high-voltage lines (that serve nearly all of our buildings on campus) have been damaged. We are working to bring in specialists as soon as possible to review these lines but do not know the nature or severity of the damage.

Although the school has generators, this makes it very difficult to operate, and we must regrettably cancel the final week of the Summer Program, including the culmination performance on Aug. 5 at Walt Disney Concert Hall.

Jazz in the Pines will go on as planned on Aug. 10, 11 and 12.
