About 1 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 20, Paul Biner, 88 of Idyllwild, was driving north on Village Center Drive. He went through the stop sign at the intersection with North Circle Drive and collided head on with a 2008 white Toyota Tundra parked in front of the Idyllwild Gift Shop.
The impact of the collision drove the Tundra backward, up two steps and onto the Gift Shop porch and into the front of the Shop.
Biner had lacerations and the Idyllwild Fire Department transported him to the Eisenhower Medical Center. One person in the shop was also injured.
He was driving a 2006 tan Chevy Trailblazer. Richard Shahan owns the Toyota Tundra.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Darren Meyer, Biner was cited for failing to stop at a stop sign. The Department of Motor Vehicles will re-evaluate Biner’s California driver’s license, Meyer added.
