A fire on Friday afternoon, Feb. 2, 1973, damaged a home on Fern Valley Road belonging to Harry K. Mulholland of Santa Monica. A group of teenager girls, selling candy door-to-door, detected the blaze and turned in the alarm. Heaviest damage was sustained in a garage apartment where the fire originated. The house was unoccupied at the time, the owners having returned to Santa Monica the previous Monday morning. Cause of the fire was believed to be an electric blanket that had been left connected. Mulholland purchased the house in 1967 from the Shaddixes. File Photo
