Errol Smith of Crest-line was in an Idyllwild phone booth when a car driven by a Mountain Center woman crashed into it. The phone booth was destroyed but Smith crawled out the top uninjured.

Local residents took steps to employ a private security firm to patrol Idyllwild late at night. The effort would augment town security as the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department budget cuts had reduced the number of deputies.
