There were two crashes on Hill roads over the last week, both with minor injuries.

At 6:55 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, Miren Pino, 16, of Idyllwild, was driving a white 2017 Jeep Renegade southbound on Highway 243, three-tenths of a mile north of the intersection with South Circle Drive when, according to the California Highway Patrol report, she made an “unsafe turning movement” to the left, resulting in the vehicle veering to the east side of the highway off the pavement and into a tree.

Miren complained of pain in the left leg but did not request medical transport. The CHP report noted alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

At 2:48 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, Jordon Smith, 29, of Redlands, was riding his 2012 Suzuki Sport motorcycle eastbound on Highway 74, just east of Bee Canyon Truck Trail, when, according to the CHP, his excessive speed of 65 mph caused him to lose control, run off the road, hit several wooden posts and be ejected from his bike.

Smith was transported by American Medical Response to Riverside University Health System Medical Center in Moreno Valley complaining of road rash and a possible broken hand.
