Last week in “Days of Our Nine Lives,” the ARF cats were a slight bit irritated that ARF dogs get more attention.
Indigo: No surprise. I just took a head count, and we are all here. Still.
Pepper: (Begins to cry) I don’t know why. I really don’t.
Zeus: Aw, don’t cry Pepper! We try, we really do. I let any- and everyone pet me.
Bear: And I look so handsome for everyone who comes into the cattery.
Indigo: So, here is the deal, and I guess we need to learn to live with it. Many humans just don’t understand that we cats take a little time to warm up to them. We need to trust them!
Heavenly Whiskers: No kidding. I see humans walk into the cattery and take a look around at us (some of us kind of like to hide, it’s true). Then they just leave. Walk right out.
Carly: How can they get to know us when they do that?
Pepper: (Sniffing) I don’t know. It’s just not in me to run up to a human, but once he sits quietly and gives me a little
time, I’m there.
Indigo: Me, too! I’m in the office, usually in my condo just watching all the goings-on. But if someone talks to me and has a seat, I want to get to know her.
Zeus: We just aren’t dogs.
Bear: Duh.
Zeus: What I mean is we don’t respond to humans the way dogs do. Well, except for Panther. He was very special.
Heavenly Whiskers: And that’s why he found his forever home so easily. I wish I could be like him, but I’m just not.
Zeus: We make such loyal, loving family members.
Bear: So much like dogs!
Indigo: Patience, my fellow felines. Patience.
