How would a government shutdown affect Idyllwild?

Idyllwild Post Office Officer in Charge Ray Wilson said since the U.S. Postal Service does not receive any tax dollars, a federal government shutdown predicted for midnight Friday, Dec. 21, will not affect U.S. mail.

He said customers can depend on receiving and sending mail as usual. The Idyllwild Post Office will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Christmas Eve, and closed for Christmas Day.

The Mountain Center Post Office will be open regular hours Monday, Christmas Eve, and closed for Christmas Day.

U.S. Forest Service Public Information Officer Zachary Behrens of the San Bernardino National Forest said, "We are going to continue business as usual unless instructed otherwise."
