The repair of Highway 243 north of Pine Cove will take time to complete. The major work will be restoration of the highway where it collapsed and severed, in two places.
Below is the work to reconnect the highway at Bay Tree Springs. Access to the second highway collapse, north of this site is not possible.
Note that equipment (a trac-hoe) is excavating, at least, 100 feet below the road level to rebuild the base.
The Bay Tree spring had to be diverted in order to allow road restoration to proceed. This drainage is about 40 feet south of where it was flowing originally under the highway.
