Françoise Frigola (center front) “retired” from her seven years of volunteer service at Mountain Disaster Preparedness and operator of its “Idyllwild Emergency.” Frigola is between Riverside County 3rd District Supervisor Chuck Washington (to the left of Frigola), who presented her with a proclamation from Riverside County, and Mike Feyder, MDP president. Many MDP members came to the ceremony to honor her on March 21 at the Idyllwild Library.

On Thursday, Mar. 21, long-time resident Françoise Frigola was acknowledged for her contribution to her community and as the founder of Mountain Disaster Preparedness’ Idyllwild Emergency.com. Surrounded by a large group of grateful citizens, Riverside County 3rd District Supervisor Chuck Washington braved the snow to present Frigola with a Certificate Of Recognition citing her volunteerism, tireless service and generous gift of time.

Frigola founded MDP’S Idyllwild Emergency in 2012 to provide official information on conditions affecting greater Idyllwild in an effort to keep her village safe. From fires to recent floods and road closures, Frigola’s posts have kept the community informed and she now has more than 6,500 loyal subscribers and social media followers.

Françoise is taking much deserved time off, but her Idyllwild Emergency legacy will live on as she advises a new team of MDP volunteers.
