The Idyllwild Scholarship Board is requesting community donations to support scholarships for 2019 high school graduates.
To be eligible, a student must have resided in the Idyllwild School attendance area with a parent or guardian for at least three or more years during grades K-8, and for two of the four high school years. Academic requirements are an attainment of a 2.5 or better GPA during 10th to 12th high school grades and a combined SAT score of 1052 or ACT of 20.
Other considerations would be involvement in school or community activities, and a demonstration of intent to further their education.
Applicants must fill out a packet, write an essay and appear at an interview in front of a selection committee. The committee is made up of representatives of local organizations, two members-at-large and the Idyllwild School principal.
Application packets may be picked up at the Idyllwild School office or found on the web at www.IdyllwildScholarshipFund.org.
Completed packets are due by April 16 to Idyllwild School. Interviews will be scheduled for Tuesday, April 30, and Wednesday, May 1.
Donations may be sent to Idyllwild Scholarship Fund, PO Box 778, Idyllwild, CA 92549.
All donations are tax-deductible. Last year the Idyllwild community donated more than $22,000 and scholarships were awarded to eight local high school graduates.
Donations have been received this year from Holly Guntermann, Dennis and Carol Dunbar, American Legion Aux, Earl Parker, Pine Cove Property Owners, Marsha Lytle, Jonathan Dunn, Earth ’n’ Fire, Idyllwild Community Foundation, David Sandlin, Silver Pines, Stephen and Maureen Rose, Charlotte Anthony, Pete and Suzy Capparelli, Philip Drell and Diane Suechika, Earl Parker, Diane D’Arcy, Kathryn and Frank Baele, Lenore Sazer, Jayne Davis, Village Hardware, Karen Doshier, Karen Smith, Brian and Maria Fe Marshall, Idyllwild Garage, Peggy Petalos, Linda Young, Sandra Fulcher, Suzanne Moore, Jean Stein, Idyllwild Glass Co., Jacob and Theresa Tell, Jon and Shannah Zorn, Iva Botton, John McAndrews, Woodland Park Manor, Ann Erler, Kathy Bryson, Gary Weber, George and Heather Companiott, Gerald and Marianne Corey, Bernard and Jorgie Brause, John and Linda Denver, Ed Thoresen, Community Window and Door, Brett and Joan Hirsch, Marilyn Leih, Carl Cripe, Ned and Peggy Roberts, Perdita Myers, Anne Erikson, Alison Jordan, Renata Caine, Donald Rhodes, Gwenda Oesch, Kathy Halkin, Jeanette Schultejann, Dick and Pat Swartz, Idyllwild Community Presbyterian Church, Jeri John, Jeanne and Jerry Buchanan, Helen Hixon, Bronwyn Jones and David Hiemenz, Soroptimist International of Idyllwild, Susan and Glenn Schumacher, Carolyn and Jeff Thomas, and Mountain Quilters of Idyllwild.
