After nearly five years, Green trial to start
On May 2, Carl Rodgers, 45, of Idyllwild pleaded guilty to attempted criminal threats that could cause great bodily harm.
Riverside County Superior Court Judge Stephen Gallon granted Rodgers probation for three years after serving 180 days in the Riverside County jail. He also will have to pay the victim restitution and enroll in a 52-week domestic violence program.
He was arrested on April 22 and charged with the felony threats and a misdemeanor for driving without a license. The latter was dismissed.
Marcus Green’s trial is scheduled to begin May 10.
Green, 54, of Thermal, was the driver of a car that went over the side of Highway 74 in May 2014 and resulted in the death of a 5-month-old child. The RC District Attorney’s office filed two felony charges — murder and willful child cruelty — as well as gross domestic violence.
His bail is $1.86 million and he has been in custody since his arrest in 2014.
