California Highway Patrol reported two collisions last week, each involving solo vehicles.
At 11:20 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, Quiarra Zahque, 19, of Surprise, Arizona, was driving a blue 2002 Pontiac Aztek westbound on Highway 74, 1/4 mile west of May Valley Road, when she drove the vehicle off the right side of the dirt shoulder, according to CHP Public Information Officer Darren Meyer. When she attempted to correct the vehicle, she lost control and it overturned.
Zahque complained of neck and back pain. American Medical Response transported her to Desert Regional Medical Center. Idyllwild Garage towed the vehicle.
At 11:10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, Giana Rivera-Tweedie, 62, of Santa Ana, was driving a red 2018 Subaru Crosstrek northbound on Highway 243, ¼ mile south of Marian View Drive, when she made an unsafe turn, colliding with a rock.
Her passenger was a 5-year-old boy in a car seat, though no injuries were reported. Idyllwild Garage towed the vehicle.
