“It’s Showtime at Your Library,” Idyllwild Library’s summer reading program, begins Monday, June 3, and ends Monday, July 15.
Children and adults may sign up to read during the summer and win prizes. When you sign up at the front desk, you receive a registration bag with information and a reading log. The final due date to turn in the reading log is Saturday, July 13.
Children will be award prizes for five, 15 or 30 books read, and teens for 500 or 1,000 pages. Adults will be entered into a grand prize drawing.
During the summer, the library will offer many events for children and adults, including the 10:30 a.m. Monday Children’s Story Time that also occurs year-round, except when Monday is a major holiday. The June 3 Story Time features Sandii Castleberry in a “Singing Your Way to Reading” musical event.
July 15’s Story Time is a summer party with John Abrams and an animal magic show.
Family STEAM programs occur at 10:30 a.m. the Wednesdays of June 19 to July 10 and including, in this order, “Dominoes in Motion,” “Paper Mosaics,” “Acrylic Pouring” and “A Capella Science.”
Monday community programs starting at 3 p.m. June 3 to 17 are “Life, One Song at a Time,” “Fire Followers” and “A History of Classical Music.”
Tuesday community programs starting at 6 p.m. June 11, June 25 and July 9 are “An Actor’s Life for Me,” “When Mountain Lions are Neighbors” and “History of Films in Idyllwild.”
Saturday community programs at 1 p.m. June 8 and July 6 are “Louie, Take a Look at This!: My Time With Huell Howser” and “Henna Workshop.”
All of the programs and events are free and open to the public.
