A satisfied Lora Steere, 88, nestles next to husband Tom Steere, 92, married again after 62 years shown here in 1976. They first married in April 1914 and again in September 1976. Lora encouraged a divorce after Tom returned from WW I from Siberia where he experienced much sadness. His home was noisy with four children and Lora encouraged a quieter atmosphere for him. About 1,500 campers were evacuated from Silent Valley Campground after a boy contracted bubonic plague after camping there.

Plans for the Center of Idyllwild project (now known as The Fort) passed the initial approval phase and would soon go before the Riverside County Planning Commission for a public hearing.

Hemet Unified School District Board of Trustees President Bill Sanborn announced that Idyllwild School had a good chance of getting funds for a science laboratory.

Judge Edward Webster of the Riverside County Superior Court gave Noel T. Winter, 73, one week to return to Florida and settle five felony warrants issued for his arrest by authorities in Orange County, Florida. The Florida warrants were for felony scheme to defraud, grand theft and assessing advance fees as a broker.

The Idyllwild Historic Preservation District Review Board met with a number of property owners and renters whose properties fall within district boundaries to explain the district and the renovation permitting process.

Soroptimist International of Idyllwild organized the comedy night event, in its second year. Comedy night was a new rendition of the club’s Celebration of Women in the Arts, which started in 2011 and raises funds to help groups fighting human trafficking, one of Soroptimist of the America’s main projects.
