Only one traffic collision occurred on hill roads over the last week, Officer Darren Meyer of the California Highway Patrol reports.
At 7:20 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, two vehicles collided on Highway 243 about one-quarter mile south of Saunders Meadow Road. A black 2006 Honda Accord, driven by Jacob Fetchko, 25 of San Jacinto, was traveling north on Highway 243. At the same time, Marini Walter, 51 of Billings, Montana, was traveling south on Highway 243 in a gray 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The Honda crossed over the double-yellow lines and went headlight to headlight with the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor in this incident. There were no injuries reported and both vehicles were towed by Idyllwild Garage.
