Last week in “Days of Our Nine Lives,” ARF cats met Sox, the newest feline member of the family.
Sox: I’m calling to order my first ARF cattery meeting.
Heavenly Whiskers: I think everyone is here except for Terra and her litter.
Zeus: Who?
Sox: Hey! Give me a chance to share the news.
Sadie: Spit it out, Sox.
Sox: ARF has a beautiful, young mama cat named Terra, who is here with her litter of eight.
Mr. Gray: Eight? Holy smoke!
Sox: They are only 4 weeks old and full of kitten adorableness.
Sadie: Is Terra a good mommy?
Sox: She really is, especially considering she is so young. She is probably less than 9 months old.
Pepper: I guess this is why ARF really promotes spaying and neutering cats.
Zeus: I’m guessing they won’t be ready for adoption for at least four more weeks, right?
Sox: That’s right, but humans may turn in applications and deposits to guarantee adoption rights. Humans, who want a kitten sooner, should stop by here on Labor Day weekend when ARF gets five more kittens, but they are a bit older. The kittens will be 8 weeks old then and ready to go to forever homes.
Zeus: I think there has been a kitten explosion at ARF.
Thomas: But what a cute explosion!
Zeus: By the way, how is George doing?
Thomas: He is doing okay. George is taking it one day at a time.
Mr. Gray: You know, George and I are the best of buddies. We talk to each other quite a bit. I like to think I help keep his spirits up.
Sadie: Thanks for doing that Mr. Gray. You are a good friend.
Sox: This sure is a nice bunch of cats here. I hope humans stop by to visit this weekend. I think George would really like that.
