The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is assisting in the search and rescue of a female hiker in the Idyllwild area, according to Deputy Robyn Flores of the media information bureau. The department received the report of the missing hiker at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11. The department's helicopter has been searching on and off for the hiker since.

The other agencies involved in the search and rescue effort, according to Flores, are Cal Fire, San Bernardino National Forest, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, and the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

Search and rescue efforts will continue until the hiker is located or the search has been called off.
