Highway 74 to open without pilot car at 5 p.m. on Oct. 3

Highway 74 will be open without pilot car starting at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3 with flagging operations starting Friday, Oct. 4 at 7 a.m., according to Public and Media Affairs Chief Terri Kasinga of Caltrans in a phone call to the Town Crier at 2:10 p.m. on Oct. 2.  

A flagging operation will be in place from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday until the rest of the minor repairs are completed. 

“Some of the remaining repairs include final culvert work, drainage and other minor construction related details until further notice,” wrote Kasinga in the press release.

Kasinga reminds motorists “to expect delays during flagging. Please have patience and follow all commands given by flaggers and construction crews.”

Highway 243 will remain closed until further notice. However, Kasinga stated in the phone call that some information regarding the highway will be available soon.
