A small, quarter-acre size fire ignited off the Ernie Maxwell Scenic Trail near Cougar Road around 4:18 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10. The rate of spread was slow to moderate due to light winds and was 100% contained by firefighters within a couple of hours.
Not long after the fire ignited, the forward rate of spread had been stopped and firefighters had a line around most of the fire, according to the San Bernardino National Forest (SBNF) Twitter page.
As of Oct. 15, the cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to SBNF Public Affairs Officer Zachary Behrens.
