Fostering teamwork while painting the smARTS deer Alfredo.

By Art Alliance of Idyllwild

The Art Alliance of Idyllwild (AAI) is grateful to the Ruth & Joseph C. Reed Foundation for a $10,000 grant. This grant allows the AAI to benefit the youth of Idyllwild and beyond.
This financial support will be used to offer fused glass and pottery workshops and an origami STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) workshop. Students will also be able to learn how to use their smartphones to capture great photographs. In addition to these workshops, the AAI is able to fund two public art projects.
As the cougar is the Idyllwild School mascot, students will paint a large aluminum cougar sculpture. This nearly 5-foot sculpture will be installed on the school grounds.
Temecula Preparatory School, another beneficiary of this generous grant, has opted to paint a family of deer, similar to the many painted deer sculptures in Idyllwild.
Such public art projects foster creativity as well as teamwork. Students will learn about techniques and materials. The AAI will provide guidance to encourage these skills.

The AAI is also offering four-day program scholarships to the Idyllwild Arts Academy’s summer program. The focus is on visual arts and the “Adventures in Art” course for children ages 9-12. This course is offered from June 28-July 11, 2020 culminating in an art exhibition on July 11. According to the website, the session explores mediums from collaborative drawing and plein air painting to mixed media collage and sculpture. Since the AAI will be ordering more aluminum sculptures, they invite the general public to take part in this order and receive a bigger discount and free shipping. Explore all the sculptures on offer at Contact the AAI by the end of December 2019 at [email protected] if you want to order a sculpture for your yard or garden.
The Art Alliance of Idyllwild board is thrilled to expand its art education projects to inspire and promote artistic excellence in our very talented community. Our thanks go to the Ruth & Joseph C. Reed Foundation for sharing in our vision.
