Berkeley

Last week in “Days of Our Nine Lives,” ARF cats discussed help that is available for those who have trouble affording pet food at this uncertain time.

Zeus:  Hey! Did everyone hear about the new ARF dog?

Lulu:  I heard a rumor that it is a very cute boy.

Whiskers: And I heard he is stopping by the ARF House today.

Flora: Ooh, a dog. Should I hide my babies?

Whiskers: Flora, I wouldn’t worry. He is good with cats as well as with dogs.

Flora: Whew!

Pepper: What’s his story?

Zeus: His story starts out rather sad but quickly becomes happy. He was found on a road was in bad shape. He had a hole in his side and a collapsed lung.

Pepper: Why? What happened?

Zeus: Clearly, he had been attacked but no one knows by what or whom. Anyway, a kind human found him and rushed him to a veterinarian. The doctor performed lifesaving surgery then called ARF to see if it could help.

Pepper: So that’s how we got him.

Zeus: Yes, and ARF got him a dental and a neuter early this week. By the weekend he should be good to meet potential forever families, by appointment of course.

Berkeley (entering the ARF House): Are you talking about me?

Pepper: Hello! And you are…

Berkeley: I’m Berkeley. The humans think I am probably a Havanese mix. The doctors think I am between 5 and 6 years old and my foster says I’m very affectionate, house trained and “extremely adoptable.”

Whiskers: Then you shouldn’t be around long before you’re adopted.

Lulu: Any human interested in meeting you should call ARF soon!

Be sure to keep up with the animal antics of “Days of Our Nine Lives” each week.
