Berkeley

Last week in “Days of Our Nine Lives,” ARF cats met Berkeley, the new ARF dog.

Zeus:  Okay everyone, gather around.

Lulu:  I think we are all here except for Flora and the babies. Flora is pretty darned busy with those six babies.

Whiskers: I think she might like a break.

Flora: (entering the room) Oh yes, I would like a break. Those kittens are adorable but they are now very busy! Keeping track of them is a full-time job.

Whiskers: Have all of them been spoken for?

Flora: I’m not certain. ARF is bringing in interested humans to meet them and submit applications.

Pepper: Zeus, why did you call us together?

Zeus: I wanted to let you know that Berkeley has been adopted.

Pepper: Fabulous! That was quick.

Zeus: And he had quite a few families that wanted to take him home. He will remain locally with a wonderful woman.  The humans are happy for him, even though it was a difficult decision to decide as to which family he would join.

Pepper: I think the same thing will happen with the kittens.

Zeus: And Flora, perhaps!

Pepper: Anyone who is interested in these kittens had better act quickly and get on the list.

Bear: Now that the cute little dog is adopted, maybe the focus will return to us.

Whiskers: I know it is a difficult time and many humans are not thinking about adopting a pet right now.

Lulu: But this could be the perfect time. We could offer comfort and companionship.

Bear: So true. A beautiful cat purring in one’s lap is very soothing.

Flora: Or watching a kitten chase a string will entertain  one for hours.

Zeus: Bottom line? We are just what the doctor ordered!

Be sure to keep up with the animal antics of “Days of Our Nine Lives” each week. Please stop in to say hello to the entire adoptable cast at the ARF House, 26890 Highway 243 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays and from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Sundays, or by appointment Monday-Friday by calling 951-659-1122.

Readers Write: Temecula not as affected by jets

Editor: In response to the letter from David Pearson, Ph.D., March 14 regarding Quiet Skies, I think that Temecula would not be as impacted by jets passing over because there is already a lot of ambient noise in the area. Considering vehicle noise from Highway 79, throughout Temecula, and the 215 traffic, the jet noise…
