The U.S. Forest Service – San Bernardino National Forest (SBNF) received a call for a vegetation fire about 9:40 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22. The fire was located off the Webster Trail in Pine Cove, according to the SBNF.

“The fire is a quarter acre in light to medium fuels with moderate rate of spread,” SBNF Public Affairs Officer Zach Behrens wrote.

The quarter-acre fire was 100% contained and out within a few hours.

Firefighters cut a hand line around the fire. SBNF was assisted by Cal Fire, Riverside County Fire (Cal Fire) and the Idyllwild Fire Protection District. Firefighters were able to quickly establish containment with air resources.

The cause is still under investigation.
