Three traffic collisions occurred on local roads over the last month, according to California Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Matt Napier.
On Aug. 28 at 4:25 a.m., Sirinapa Ralph Phouphayry, 31 of Yucca Valley, was driving a white 2005 Nissan Titan northbound on Highway 243 south of Twin Pines Road at an unknown speed, and for unknown reasons, crossed into the southbound lane and collided with the mountainside before overturning.
Phouphayry was transported by AMR to Desert Regional Medical Center for suspected serious injuries. The vehicle was towed by Idyllwild Garage.
On Aug. 30 at 1 p.m., Jeff Cooper, 41 of Escondido, was driving his gray 2002 Chevrolet Suburban northbound on Highway 243 at a stated speed of 40-50 mph when, due to Cooper’s intoxicated state was unable to negotiate a right-hand curve, crossing the double-yellow line when Lawrence Spector, 58 of Idyllwild, was driving a blue 2017 Subaru Forester southbound on Highway 243 at a stated speed of 25-35 mph and maneuvered to get out of the way. The left side of Cooper’s vehicle grazed the rear left side of Spector’s vehicle.
The Suburban was towed by Idyllwild Garage.
On Sept. 4 at 4 p.m., Timothy Jack Newton, 55 of Spokane Valley, Washington, was riding a 2004 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide eastbound on Highway 74 1.9 miles west of McGaugh Road at a stated speed of 40 mph negotiating a left-hand curve, and for unknown reasons, continued straight on the highway. The motorcycle overturned and Newton was ejected. The motorcycle came to rest in the eastbound lane.
Newton was transported by AMR to Hemet Valley Medical Center for minor injuries. The motorcycle was towed by Idyllwild Garage.
