The Art Alliance of Idyllwild (AAI) will hold its “Eye of the Artist” fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 17. The event will take place in IdyPark starting at noon. It features a judged art show with over 45 pieces of art in four categories: 2-D, 3-D, wearable art and photography.

AAI artist members compete for cash prizes awarded to each ribbon winner. Each category is awarded a first, second and third place ribbon. The judge will also award a ribbon for Best of Show and Best Theme.

This year’s optional theme is “20/20 Vision.”

Visitors to the event will be able to vote for their favorite piece of art with the winner receiving a “People’s Choice” ribbon.

The highlight of this fun event is that all pieces of art in the judged show are available to win by raffle. Visitors purchase raffle tickets and place their tickets in the box at the piece they wish to win. AAI will start pulling the winning raffle tickets at 4 p.m.

Artists and local businesses have also contributed to a wide range of artistic and attractive silent auction items. These include baskets of locally made natural products and gift cards to many of our local restaurants. This event offers over 50 silent auction items and an ideal opportunity to do your holiday shopping early in an outdoor COVID-safe environment. Masks and social distancing are required. Bidding on the silent auction items ends at 4 p.m.

The money raised at this event goes toward many local community projects including art education, grants, public art projects and fostering creativity. AAI plans to sponsor a project offering parents the choice of art kits they can give to their children as holiday gifts. The details will be publicized shortly.

AAI is grateful to its talented and generous artists who have donated their beautiful works of art and to the business community who have contributed to the silent auction items. We also appreciate the time given by our volunteers to put on this community-spirited event.

The event is free to the public and promises to be fun for the whole family. Come join in the excitement!
