Two collisions occurred on Highway 243 over the last couple of weeks, according to California Highway Patrol Public Information Matt Napier.
On Oct. 23 at 1:35 p.m., Megan Reeves, 33 of Idyllwild, was backing her gray 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor out of a parking stall at the Chevron gas station on Highway 243 at an unknown rate of speed. Demetrius Monte Sanders, 29 of Compton, was at a complete stop behind Reeves on his green 2014 Kawasaki Ninja when they collided.
Sanders complained of pain to his right leg but was not transported. Reeves was uninjured. Neither vehicle was towed.
On Oct. 30 at 4:30 p.m., Antje Magba Banks, 85 of Idyllwild, was driving her silver 2017 Honda HR-V west on Pine Dell Drive, coming to a stop at the intersection of Pine Dell Drive and Highway 243. Lisa Michelle Motte, 56 of Hemet, was driving her silver 2013 Nissan Versa south on Highway 243 approaching the intersection while Marjorie Helen Ibanez, 47 of Idyllwild, was driving her green 2012 Ford Focus north on Highway 243 also approaching the intersection.
Banks failed to yield to traffic while turning left onto Highway 243, traveling into the direct path of Motte. Banks and Motte collided in the southbound lane. The impact caused Motte to lose control and travel into the northbound lane hitting Ibanez.
Banks and Motte were uninjured. Ibanez was transported by Idyllwild Fire Protection District to Eisenhower Health complaining of pain. Banks’ vehicle was driven from the scene, while Motte’s and Ibanez’s vehicles were towed by Idyllwild Garage.
