IWD discusses legal counsel

Idyllwild Water District (IWD) Board of Directors met Wednesday to evaluate the district’s legal counsel and discuss the seven received proposals. No reportable action was taken.

According to IWD Board Vice President Peter Szabadi, the board will have another meeting to have contact with potential candidates.

Fern Valley Water District’s (FVWD) legal counsel, Best, Best & Krieger, was approached by IWD’s General Manager Leo Havener for legal services.

The newspaper previously reported, since the firm already represents FVWD, it contacted FVWD regarding the request from IWD. The firm submitted a proposal to IWD but outlined that in the event of a conflict between the two districts, Best, Best & Krieger would represent FVWD. A different team than the one assigned to FVWD, should IWD choose Best, Best & Krieger, has been assigned to IWD.
