Chamber orchestra is back. Two rehearsals start this month: two groups in two different locations.
Desert Chamber Orchestra (DCO) rehearsals will resume Thursdays (for the summer) from 7 to 9:30 p.m. beginning July 22 at Metropolitan Community Church Coachella Valley, 32150 Candlewood Dr., Cathedral City, CA 92234. Rehearsals will be every other week until Labor Day, then rehearsals will be weekly.
The Idyllwild Chamber Orchestra (DCO subgroup) will resume rehearsals, Wednesday afternoons starting July 28, 2 to 4 p.m. at Middle Ridge Winery Tasting Gallery, 54301 N. Circle Dr., Idyllwild, CA 92549, hosted by co-owner Chris Johnston, who also plays violin with us.
Any and all adult and student orchestral musicians (violin, viola, violoncello, bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, piano and percussion) are welcome, and we will be exploring both classical and pops repertoire, in preparation for local casual performances through December, and then two or three mainstage concerts in February and March 2022, featuring cellist John Walz, and the return of my Los Angeles Philharmonic Principal Concertmaster cousin Martin Chalifour.
All participating musicians are asked to bring a music stand to rehearsals.
