Lightning causes small fire off Highway 74
The U.S. Forest Service – San Bernardino National Forest (USFS), Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department and the Idyllwild Fire Protection District responded to a call for a vegetation fire, the White Post Fire, at Highway 74 and mile marker 57 Sunday at 11:29 a.m.

Initially, the USFS reported the fire at a quarter-acre. The fire was much smaller. The agency tweeted, “Updated size is a small spot, approx. 5 feet by 5 feet in size (earlier size report was Twitter operator error).”
At 12:40 p.m., USFS reported crews were mopping up.
The confirmed cause of the fire was lightning.
