Free holiday concert with a little help from library friends
Editor’s note: This story is from a Friends of the Idyllwild Library press release.
Idyllwild’s beloved acapella choral group Local Color will perform “The Many Faces of Wonder” at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, at the Rustic Theatre. Admission is free, but seating is limited to 80, so claim a seat early.
Local Color resumes its holiday concert following a two-year hiatus. Friends of the Idyllwild Library worked with The Rustic Theatre to secure this year’s concert venue. The free concert is traditionally held at Idyllwild Library, which cannot accommodate the concert this year, as it continues to operate under COVID protocols (Riverside County).
The Friends of Idyllwild Library also ensured that the concert remains free to Idyllwild’s community. The Friends exist to extend and enhance the library’s many services to the community. Sales from the Friends’ bookstore inside the library, the recent pop-up Idyllwild Authors’ Bookfair held in Idypark, and the largess of individual donors make the Friends’ support possible.
A an example of the supportive community will be on display at Local Color’s holiday concert: “Together Again,” a quilt created by Dawn Miller of Mountain Quilters of Idyllwild. Miller has gifted her work to help raise funds for the Friends via ticket sales for an opportunity drawing to be held in January.

“Together Again” is on display in the library until the drawing. Tickets are $5 for one or $20 for five. Pat online at Venmo or PayPal, or by cash in the library bookstore. Pick up tickets in the library or on Dec, 8 at Local Color holiday concert.
