Easter events return to the mountain

After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, Easter traditions return this weekend with the annual egg hunt and services dedicated to Christian religious resurrection beliefs.

The Easter Bunny will attend the Idyllwild Community Center Easter Egg Hunt at Idyllwild County Park next Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.

Beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 16, the Idyllwild Community Center (ICC) and Riverside County Parks are hosting an Easter egg hunt at the Idyllwild County Park. The address is 54000 Riverside County Playground Road.

Photos with the Easter Bunny begin at 10 a.m. At 10:30 a.m., the Easter egg hunt begins with four age groups. “Every Easter egg found will contain a candy or prize, and each age group area will have one special Golden Easter Egg Ticket that will entitle the finder to a special Easter prize box,” said ICC President Stephanie Yost.

The free event includes refreshments. Participants need to bring their own baskets or containers to collect eggs.

The annual Sunrise Service at Inspiration Point returns this year also after a two-year hiatus of non-gathering due to COVID-19. It is from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. Sunday, April 17. Bring chairs and warm blankets.

Churches sponsoring the event are Calvary Chapel (10 a.m.), Idyllwild Bible Church (9 and 10:45 a.m.) and Idyllwild Community Church (9:30 a.m.) with their regular service times that day listed in parentheses.The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Easter service begins at 10 a.m. with two sister missionaries speaking about the miracles of Easter.

St. Hugh’s of Lincoln Episcopal Church begins its Easter celebrations with a Maundy Thursday Eucharist at 5 p.m. April 14, and Good Friday service at noon Friday, April 15. Easter Sunday begins with a breakfast at 9:30 a.m. followed by Resurrectionist Eucharist at 11 a.m.
