Lucy

Last week in “Days of Our Nine Lives,” the ARF cats shared their “adoption blues” with each other.
Phil: I’m calling a meeting of the ARF cats, and of course Claire, our lone dog.
Whiskers: I think everyone is here, including Claire.
Don: What’s up, Phil?
Phil: I thought maybe we could all put our heads together and brainstorm some ways to get us adopted!
Don: Great idea!
Claire: There must be a way.
Pepper: Sounds OK, but first I must know what more we could offer.
Claire: You’re correct Pepper. Look around the room. We are some very good-looking pets, so improving our looks can’t be the answer.
Lulu: Right! We cats would look so beautiful in anyone’s home.
Claire: And I hate to sound boastful, but I’m a stunning dog. Look at my gorgeous blue eyes!
Lulu: Claire, anyone could get lost in those bewitching peepers.
Lucy: We’ve ruled out our appearances as a hurdle to adoption, so what about our temperaments?
Harley: We are so very friendly, and most of us cats really like to be petted.
Paisley: And we really like to curl up in a warm lap. I’ve heard that humans like that.
Harley: And as far as Claire goes, she is a very friendly dog.
Claire: True! I so enjoy humans of all ages. And I am very little trouble, being house trained and quiet.
Lulu: That seems to be a real selling point.
Lucy: And every cat here faithfully uses the litter box.
Claire: We all sound very adoptable. What else can we do to convince humans to give us a chance?
Pepper: I’m not certain I have the answer, but maybe if people realize that by adopting a dog or cat, they have saved a life.
Whiskers: And made their own lives even better.
Be sure to keep up with the animal antics of “Days of our Nine Lives” each week. And please stop in to say hello to the entire adoptable cast at the ARF House, 26890 Highway 243. ARF is open Saturdays 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Sundays 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and during the week by appointment. Please call 951-659-1122.
