AAI closing gallery and Visitors Center

Art Alliance of Idyllwild

The Art Alliance of Idyllwild (AAI) Gallery and Visitors Center is closing Thursday, Sept. 1. Nam Park generously sponsored the property at 26364 Saunders Meadow Road since October 2020. It will now revert to a more commercial enterprise.

Prior to this space, AAI ran the Courtyard Gallery, with Evan and Robin Mills offering a generous rent subsidy. That lease ran from March 2018 to April 2020.

Except for these two gallery spaces, since its inception in 1997, AAI has always held its events at places such as Town Hall and other local venues. It now plans to hold future events at such venues once again. AAI President Cyn Grady said, “The board is excited with renewed energy and enthusiasm for events that we have not held over the past few years, such as the Imagery of Words, the Plein Air Festival, Studio Tours, AAI Booths at local events, and so on.”

AAI is holding a “Closing Down Celebration and Sale” from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 20 and 21. All art will be discounted. In addition to the art in the gallery, AAI also will be selling the art of several artists who have left the area, are no longer creating art or who have passed away. It may be the last opportunity to buy art by Scott Finnell, Irena Carlson, Terry Rothrock, Barbara Price and George Appel. Do your gift and Christmas shopping early.

AAI invites you to visit the gallery and share a glass of wine, share your ideas for future events and thank all those who made it a success.

The Art Walk and Wine Tasting is AAI’s next event. With over a quarter of the tickets sold and a price increase on Sept. 1, wine lovers should buy their tickets soon. For more information, visit artinidyllwild.org.
