The Idyllwild Arts Academy (IAA) has initiated a bi-coastal series of “Engagement Events” beginning Jan. 22 in New York City at the Blue Gallery. Other events are scheduled In Los Angeles (Feb. 8) Palm Desert (March 5) and San Francisco (April 6.) According to an IAA press release, the events are aimed at bringing together prospective students, patrons and alumni, to “engage more meaningfully with our diverse community.”

The events also will be a “launch” for the academy’s new Native American Arts Center and the Center for Creativity and Social Entrepreneurship.

The first event will include a fashion show by Fashion Department Chair Kentara Kameyama, an exhibition of artworks by current and former students, and a performance by alumni and New York Philharmonic principal oboist Liang Wang,

Asked for further comment, Pamela Jordan, president of the Idyllwild Arts Foundation, provided this statement: “Idyllwild Arts provides a unique educational experience to young citizen artists who join us from around the world. We are beginning to have a series of events, designed to engage members of our extended community. These events allow current and alumni parents, prospective families, alumni, trustees and other supporters to share their Idyllwild Arts experience and to learn about the exciting plans of the school. Such plans include the Advancing Our Promise campaign and the launch of the Native American Arts Center, the Center for Creativity and Social Entrepreneurship, and the Institute for Teaching and Learning.

“When we return to international travel in the next year or so, we look forward to also engaging alumni, parents and others who are around the world and remain invested in the future of Idyllwild Arts.”
