At 3:16 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, firefighters responded to reports of an injured rock climber on Tahquitz Rock. With the assistance of Riverside County Sheriff’s Department helicopter Rescue 9, rescuers were able to extricate the injured climber and safely bring them to the ground, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Paramedics evaluated and treated the injured climber before flying them to an area hospital with moderate injuries in a Reach Air Ambulance.
Rescue 9 also extricated a second person and transported them to the ground where they declined further treatment.
