The Idyllwild Race 5K/10K returns Saturday, Aug. 15, for its second year since the community race was rebooted in 2025, and this year’s turnout is already well ahead of last year.

As of Thursday, 487 runners have signed up, compared with 344 participants last year. The event once again brings runners to the streets and trails of Idyllwild while raising money to support local youth programs.

And if you haven’t registered yet, it’s not too late. Runners can still sign up for the 5K or 10K at https://idyllwildrace.com/

Whether you’re racing, cheering from the sidelines or just heading into town Saturday morning, here’s what you need to know for race day:

Race Day Schedule — Saturday, August 15

  • Early Check-in: Friday Aug 14th 5:00–7:00 p.m. (Recommended)
  • Check-in & Packet Pickup: 6:00–7:00 a.m. — Idy Park, 54300 Village Center Drive
  • 5K Start: 7:30 a.m.
  • 10K Start: 8:15 a.m.
  • Kids’ Fun Run: 9:30 a.m.
  • Awards Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. during the Pancake Breakfast at Town Hall

Tip: Arrive early for parking, packet pickup, and to get to the start line on time.

Location & Parking

  • Start/Finish: Idy Park, across from the totem pole.
  • Primary Parking: Idyllwild Community Center (across from the Mobil gas station) — 26184 Banning-Idyllwild Panoramic Hwy
  • Street Parking: Available nearby — please do not block driveways. Arrive by 6:00 a.m. to secure a spot.

Packet Pickup

Location: Idy Park, 54300 Village Center Dr. across from the totem pole

  • Friday, Aug. 14: 5:00–7:00 p.m. (Recommended)
  • Saturday, Aug. 15: 6:00–7:00 a.m.

Bring photo ID or confirmation email.

Course Info

  • Scenic Idyllwild streets with rolling elevation.
  • 10K = two loops of the 5K course.
  • Water Stations: Start/Finish & halfway point.

Safety & Rules

  • Headphones OK — keep volume low.
  • Strollers: 5K only, start at the back.
  • Dogs: Allowed on leash.
  • Watch for uneven roads & follow volunteer instructions.
  • First Aid at Start/Finish.
  • Please respect the environment — leave no trace.

Post-Race Fun

Join us for the Pancake Breakfast hosted by Riverside Mountain Rescue Unit.

Location: Idyllwild Town Hall, 25925 Cedar St.

Hours: 8:00 am – 11:30 am

Cost: $10/adult, $5/child.

(Proceeds benefit RMRU — separate fundraiser.)
