Lucile Hower Tanner Cies went to see her Lord on Aug. 21, 2012. She was born in Hiawatha, Kans., on June 7, 1916. She was predeceased by her first husband, Jack Wilson Tanner. In 1949 she married Herb Cies, whom she met while both were enrolled at Kansas University. Herb became a Methodist minister, and Lucile became an elementary school teacher for many years and dearly loved her lifetime occupation.
After retirement, Herb and Lucile lived in Idyllwild from 1983 to 1993. They were members of the Community Church and treasured the time they spent living on our beautiful Hill. Lucile is survived by her husband Herb; sons Jim Tanner, who was a real estate agent on the Hill, Ed Cies and Dan Tanner; daughters Donna Moury and Martha Cahal; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
