The heat and dry weather have accelerated the damage to local oaks from the invasive Goldspotted oak borer. A magnitude 3.9 earthquake occurred about 12:45 a.m. this morning (Oct. 28). The epicenter was located about 6 miles) southeast of Valle Vista and 7 miles west southwest from Idyllwild.
