Doug Yagaloff, 54, of Palm Springs and Idyllwild, left this world in the early morning of Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, after an unanticipated battle with kidney cancer. Born in Bethel, Conn., on March 10, 1959, he is survived by his husband Scott Douglas, father Philip, sister Carolyn, brother Keith and many close friends and colleagues.
After graduating from Antioch New England Graduate Center in 1985, Doug pursued a successful entrepreneurial path, working primarily in the fields of desktop publishing software development, instructor training and organization development. In 1996 he founded his own company, Caxton Inc., where he was the CEO/president until 2003. He was co-founder of the Mountain Harvest Market in Idyllwild and the catalyst for the Lemon Lily Festival, bringing awareness to endangered species in the San Jacinto Mountains. Over these last few years, he felt he was fulfilling his ultimate purpose as a minister of Science of Mind, practicing at the Palm Springs Center for Spiritual Living.
Doug lived life as simply and truthfully as he knew how. He will be remembered for many things but most notably for his deep philosophical search for meaning balanced with his quick, playful, often unexpected wit and humor. One of his last wishes was that people “cut the crap” and get down to living life fully, now, to cherish every moment, and love.
A celebration of his life is tentatively planned for Jan. 11, 2014, at the Palm Springs Center for Spiritual Living, www.cslps.org.
