In February 2009, Reva Ballreich, widely known as the Lilac Lady of Idyllwild, died, leaving the Hill a legacy of lilac hybrid varietals she created, many of them unnamed. Gary Parton, in taking over Ballreich’s mission of popularizing lilacs, has made it his personal mission to have Idyllwild become known as a lilac tourist destination….
“Despicable Me” was shown on a giant screen at Town Hall on Friday, Sept. 23 to about 100 residents. Prior to the showing, Town Hall Director GeGe Beagle interviewed actress and Idyllwild native Elsie Fisher, who was the voice of the youngest sister, Little Agnes, in “Despicable Me.”

Idyllwild Arts has started construction of the William M. Lowman Concert Hall. One of the first steps is removal of El Centro, top, with many of its parts being re-purposed. Construction fencing is up; the project is in full force. The 298-seat facility, designed by Sander Architects, is expected to be completed in fall of 2015….
