I would like to add to the previous letters about Brandon McGlover, who received 12 years in prison for starting the Cranston Fire.
What about the millions of our taxpayer dollars we have spent and will continue spending on first fighting the fire and then reforesting the area?
What about the millions of our taxpayer dollars we have spent and will continue spending for the flooding, mud slides and road damages making commutes much longer because of the loss of vegetation caused by the fire?
What about the thousands of people who had to evacuate and spend their own dollars for lodging, food, gas, etc.? In addition to time lost for work?
Add all that to the destruction of the forest, death and loss of habitats for animals, etc.
Twelve years in prison — probably with time off for “good behavior,” which I assume would mean he didn’t set the prison on fire.
I am not a big fan of punishment, but McGlover is responsible for all of that. In this case, I believe life in prison would have been reasonable.
