Two hooded thieves victimize Pine Cove Market
At about 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, Pine Cove Market was entered by two, young-appearing men wearing hoodies cinched up tightly around the fronts of their faces. (See security photo.)
Clerk Liz Ratcliff, a four-year Hill resident, told the Town Crier the young men expressed interest in some of the products displayed on the front counter inside a clear case. They picked out expensive tobacco, vaping and CBD products totaling about $450, which Ratcliff placed in a store bag. She said they had asked her to put the items in the Champion backpack one of them carried, but she told them she couldn’t do that. Suddenly, one of the men grabbed the store bag off the counter, and the two of them bolted out the door, without paying for the items.
At no time did either of the young men display or refer to a weapon, Ratcliff said. She then called 911 for the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and eventually gave a sheriff’s deputy a full report of the incident over the phone. The market remained open for business, closing at 9 p.m., as usual.
Persons recognizing these two individuals and/or knowing their whereabouts or having any further information regarding this crime are encouraged to contact the Hemet Sheriff’s Station at 951-791-3400.
