    In order to find nearly $12 million of saving, Hawkins presented several steps, including imposing a fee for emergency medical services, closing Station 63 in Poppet Flats, and employing more two-person medic squads in place of three-person engines in rural and outlying areas (such as Garner Valley). The immediate response from the supervisors was neither enthusiastic nor complacent toward accepting Hawkins’ proposals.     The attorney for Frank Gutierrez of Idyllwild, who was arrested in July 2015, has requested a hearing to suppress certain evidence.     Two quakes rattle area

    A magnitude 3.6 earthquake about 1 1/4 miles east-southeast of Loma Linda was felt by some on the Hill Monday at about 10:07 p.m. It was followed by a 2.8 magnitude tremor about 7.5 miles north of Banning a minute later, according to the U.S. Geological Survey CalTech website.
