The Hemet Unified School District directors appointed Barry Kayrell as its next District superintendent. The vote was unanimous 7-0. Kayrell is currently the superintendent of Beaumont Unified School District, but will start at Hemet on Oct. 1. His starting salary will be $205,000 annually.
Dr. Stephen Lowder formally resigned as Superintendent of the Hemet Unified School District. Last week, both Lowder and Sanborn talked about the trend toward increasing class sizes as a result of less money to hire teachers. “I don’t expect class size to go back [to 20 students per teacher] anytime soon,” Sanborn lamented.
