Joan Potratz, age 84, of Hemet, Calif., went to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 17, 2011. At the time of her death, she was a resident of the Devonshire Care Center in Hemet.

Joan was born Oct. 7, 1926, in Los Angeles. She was the daughter of the late John Bondage and the late Julia Elizabeth (Thomas) Bondage. She was an office manager with the Winter Metal Company for eight years. She belonged to the Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Idyllwild, and was a member of the TOPS group and volunteered for the Idyllwild HELP Center. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, golf, and was an avid fan of the Dodgers and the Lakers. Her family was most important to her.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Potratz. She is survived by daughters Maryanne Potratz, of Hemet; Melinda and her husband, John Fredericks, also of Hemet; son Michael his wife, Veronica Potratz, of Yuma, Ariz., and grandchildren Bianca, Mark and Dylan Potratz.

Arrangements are being handled by Miller-Jones Mortuary and Crematory, 1501 W. Florida Avenue, Hemet. There will be a celebration of her life with a mass at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church located at 650 S. Santa Fe Street, San Jacinto, Calif. 92583. Interment will be private at All Souls Catholic Cemetery, in Long Beach.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Joan’s name to the American Diabetes Association.
