By Mimi and Hootch

Every morning, she would be there to greet you in the kitchen at the ARF house. Not a vocal cat, but her eyes said it all. She sat very calmly, sometimes nestled in a basket on the counter, just observing with a sleepy grin. Marlena became known as “kitchen cat,” and we thought she would always be there to start our day. Sadly, we have lost our Marlena to the kitchen in the stars. But, we will always remember her here at ARF.

With every passing, there is a birth. ARF has rescued two kitties found living under the beauty parlor. Leaves and twigs were their toys, and momma would scavenge through Idyllwild’s streets to feed them. Dawn and Dusk will be available soon for adoption. Come and see them.

Annie and Gus have a few things in common. They are similar in color, they are roommates, and both are searching for a forever home. Annie, a chihuahua-min pin mix, and Gus, a Rottweiler, are both young, energetic, and ready to please. Stop by ARF this weekend and offer a treat or a walk to one or both of these great dogs.

Paws up to Max the shepherd-husky mix and best of luck in your trial home.

Just a chip off the old block, this young guy is as mellow as they come. A shepherd-mix, Chip is great on the leash and good with cats, dogs and humans. Chip was found abandoned on the trails and longs for a home. Loyalty is included with adoption.

Give him a toy and he will play. Give him a bed and he will lay. Charlie is a young orange tabby that lives to please. Not vocal, easy to love, he was abandoned on the ARF porch a year ago.

ARF has several cats and dogs available for adoption or fostering. Check out our “kitty board” at the ARF house. And, be sure to visit our updated website! Go to www.idyllwildarf.org and click on Petfinder.

ARF is open on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call (951) 659-1122 for an appointment any other day. E-mail arf@greencafe.com.
