A Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputy, responding to a silent alarm at the Idyllwild Post Office in Strawberry Plaza around 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18, drew the attention of Idyllwild citizens in the area at the time.
Hemet Station Lieutenant Geoff Raya said there was nothing unusual about the deputy having a weapon out and directing people away from the location. “It is a safety protocol,” said Raya. He said it took several minutes for the deputy to determine that no crime had occurred. Raya said it was a false alarm.
the Sheriff was texting w/ his iPhone on the way to the front door (during the initial response). The Park Ranger was the only one with his hand on his hip. There might've been a drawn weapon once inside, not publically
weird
that is incorrect; i was there at the beginning before the park ranger showed up and saw officer edwards with her gun drawn. where were you?
So much for Mayberry RFD. How does the old saying go? "You appreciate them until you need them?" Or was it the other way round?
