After Friday, deliver ballots, do not mail, says Registrar
After Friday, Aug. 26, ballots for Tuesday’s election Idyllwild Fire District election — two commission seats and Measure G — should be dropped at registrar’s office, rather than mailed, was the advice of Registrar of Voters, Kari Verjil.
To ensure that ballots reach election officials in time to be counted in Tuesday’s election, voters should not return their ballots by mail after Friday (Aug. 26). The election involves voters in the Idyllwild Fire Protection District.
After Friday, voters are encouraged to deposit their ballots in the 24-hour drop box outside the front entrance to the Registrar of Voters office at 2724 Gateway Drive in Riverside. Tuesday’s election will be conducted completely by mail ballot, which means there are no established polling places.
Ballots must reach the registrar by 8 p.m. on Election Day to be counted. Ballots with postmarks before the deadline are not accepted and cannot be counted if they reach the registrar’s office after the 8 p.m. deadline on Tuesday.
As of Wednesday (Aug. 24), approximately 1.597 vote-by-mail ballots had been sent to Idyllwild voters and 602 had been returned. Voters who already have returned mail-in ballots can check the status of those ballots at http://www.voteinfo.net/VBM/BallotStatusLookup/.
Registrar of Voters Kari Verjil encourages every eligible voter to cast a ballot in the election.
